This Early 1940s Formal Dress for Evenings and Weddings Sewing Pattern was first published by The New York Pattern Company ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Originally the pattern was described as "Dress for evening, graduation, weddings. High neck with slashed opening at back of neck, attached collar in two sections; perforated for sweetheart neck. Short sleeves, long sleeves perforated for 3/4 sleeves. Attached two-piece gathered skirt perforated for shorter-length and trimming band. " The pattern includes embroidery stitches from the 1920s. We have searched extensively but have not been able to find an exact release date for this pattern. 3 variation of dress can be made from this package, each with contrasting collar. One verison is a shorter-length dress with 3/4 sleeves, the second version is a shorter-length dress with long sleeves and, finally, a floor-length short sleeved dress. ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This dress pattern is for a early 1940s woman who is Size 16 with a 34" (86cm) bust. This is the only size of this pattern we offer. The pattern envelope, written instructions and pattern pieces are unedited. Illustrations have been added by Saundra Altman, our founder.
